If a serene daytime date is what you fancy, head over to Heaton Park. This is an ideal place for a cosy picnic and has a boating lake too. The park hosts a small animal centre, historic buildings and plenty of activities such as golf, bowling, and park runs. Castlefield Urban Heritage Park would make another great date; walk hand in hand along the canals, and see the history before you, including some Roman ruins. The John Rylands Library is a great place to meet, with fabulous architecture and some incredible artefacts along with a lot of history.

There are plenty of venues around where you can pit your skills against each other. TwentyTwentyTwo is Manchester’s own ping pong bar. Open until late, you can play ping pong with a party atmosphere and sample the cocktails on offer. Black Dog Ballroom is a bowling alley with an arcade that also serves food, craft beer and cocktails. For something a bit different, check out Whistle Punks’ axe throwing venue! You can refuel on drinks and snacks while practising your axe skills.

For the cat lovers, a visit to the Cat Cafe is a must! You can enjoy a chat over a coffee while playing with any of the kitty residents in various places throughout the cafe. You can pre-book or walk in and pay for just a few minutes or by the hour.

The Ivy is a superb restaurant if you wish to impress your date. The Ivy boasts a roof garden, an Asian inspired room and the Brasserie, with seasonal menus and sharing platters. With its glamorous decor and divine cocktails, this will be a night to remember. For an unforgettable pizza, make a date at Rudy’s in Ancoats. They have been voted 10th best pizzeria in Europe and have amazing reviews on TripAdvisor.

A few miles outside of the city centre, Manchester has Chill Factorᵉ. You can ski, snowboard, eat, drink and shop at this multi-faceted venue. If that seems a bit too much, you can have a coffee and a catch-up and watch everyone else participate, from the viewing gallery.

Manchester has other areas to visit also with a great variety of bars, such as Spinningfields, the Printworks and the Northern Quarter. No matter where you choose to go, you are guaranteed an awesome night out in Manchester.
